First came the A.J. Fernández New World cigar, a value-priced puro that solidified the AJF brand as a must-have in the humidor. With such demand, the cigar was followed by the New World Connecticut, New World Cameroon, and New World Puro Especial. While each of these blends serves a special purpose, it is the New World Puro Especial cigar that is thought to be the most premium. This blend is a collaborative effort between A.J. and his father, Ismael, who crafted the Puro Especial using tobaccos exclusively from his son's farms throughout the Estelí, Nicaragua region. The blend is, therefore, not only a Nicaraguan puro but an Estelíano puro!

The blend begins with a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, which is secured over a Nicaraguan Habano binder and all-Nicaraguan fillers. While Estelí is known for its peppery punch, Ismael has captured this quality without overdoing it, showcasing a medium-full body and hearty flavors of fresh-tilled earth, black pepper, cocoa, and touches of black licorice through the finish.
