After receiving the prestigious honor of being selected as Cigar Aficionado's No. 1 Non-Cuban Cigar of the Year for 2013, big changes were in store for Boutique Blends (parent company of the Aging Room brand). The cigar in question was the Aging Room Quattro F55 (now dubbed Quattro Original), a boutique-minded, small-batch project that took the cigar world by storm. This eventually led to Boutique Blends being acquired by Altadis (of Montecristo fame), positioning brand-runner, Rafael Nodal, as head of product capability at Altadis.
In 2018, Rafael Nodal was given clearance to overhaul the Aging Room portfolio. This included new packaging and design, new naming conventions, cutting lines that were slow to move, and adding new blends to the mix. Among these new blends was the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua, a Nicaraguan puro that Nodal worked on closely with famed artisan A.J. Fernández. The cigars were rolled at Fernández's self-titled factory in Estelí, including specially selected leaves from Fernández's Nicaraguan farms throughout the blend. Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua boasts a hearty, oily Nicaraguan wrapper. The cigars are then box-pressed, allowing for a cooler smoking temperature and better fusion of the core tobaccos. This translates to a medium-to-full experience, bringing rich and punchy flavors of red pepper, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, fresh gardening soil, and sweet caramel throughout the finish.
Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua has now joined its predecessor in critical acclaim, being named Cigar Aficionado's No. 1 Cigar of the Year for 2019!

What can I say about this cigar? Very much a pepper bomb, but excellent construction. Not my favorite from Aging Room, but well worth a try.

Well-deserved COTY. I'm not usually a fan of "torpedo" -shaped sticks. However, this one hits just right. The shape funnels the Smoke perfectly, to impart flavors of chocolate, earth, nuts and a hint of caramel. I try to always have some of these on hand.

I really tossed back and forth on what to rate this cigar, as it is probably one of my favorite maduros with a lot going on from beginning to end. First of all the construction makes it draw like a dream and every one has been consistent. The smoke is stellar and it wafts in the air like a serpent of dark smoke with an aroma that isn't quiet. This one totally surprised me with the flavors of deep cocoa, hazelnut, pecan, and earthy richness, which was well balanced by the pepper/spice that hit hard. This is a smoking adventure and not a wind down or faint of heart cigar. When you need something to excite you and command the next hour or two, this is what I would go to. Box worthy.

This cigar is obvious that it won a cigar of the year by a well known cigar magazine. For me this cigar was good but not great for my palate. If you enjoy strong pepper bombs then you have found your love language in the Aging Room Quattro Nicragua. If you're adverted to those types of flavors, buyer beware!

Garnered #1 on CA for a reason. Medium plus smoke that's a please to smoke with chocolate (dark) and nuts picked up and a plethora of smoke as well

I haven't smoked a lot of these but the few that I have smoked were perfect. I even got a damaged(cracks in wrapper) one that performed perfectly. It's a rich smoke and while I'm not great at describing flavors I'm experiencing I can tell you that the flavors are pronounced. I drink coffee with most of my cigars but this one I remember pairing particularly well!

So this is a great example of a fine cigar. The deep maduro flavor is throwing undertones of chocolate and the burn is always pin straight. If you haven't tried this one yet jump on one today.
