At the 2018 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, Caldwell Cigar Co. showed off an extension to the Eastern Standard collection with a new sun-grown wrapper. The cigar marked the third regular-production blend in the Eastern Standard line, with the Eastern Standard Midnight Express being the second.
The original Eastern Standard cigar was billed as "Not Your Daddy’s Connecticut," and uses a Connecticut / Brazilian Mata Fina hybrid wrapper with Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Playing off of this fan-favorite recipe, the Caldwell Eastern Standard Sungrown uses a Mexican Habano wrapper over Dominican and Mexican fillers.
Caldwell Eastern Standard Sungrown is rolled at the boutique-style Tabacalera William Ventura factory in the Dominican Republic. When it comes to flavors and body, you can expect a stronger cigar than the original, putting this in the medium-full range. Look out for a mouth-watering mixture of red pepper, stone fruit, and cedar.
Country of Orgin : Dominican Republic
Strength : Mild-Medium
