With Master Blender Ernesto Perez-Carrillo being largely credited as a major contributor to the modern style of large ring gauges on premium cigars, it was par for the course when he introduced the famed INCH line in 2012. Cleverly, the cigars were named for a 64 ring gauge, which is measured as one inch in diameter.
In 2022, on the 10th anniversary of the EPC INCH cigar, the company debuted the first INCH cigar to be rolled outside of their own factory in the DR: INCH Nicaragua. In order to showcase a Nicaraguan influence on the INCH line, Carrillo enlisted the help of the renowned Plasencia family, using their prized Nicaraguan tobaccos throughout the blend and rolling the cigars at the Plasencia Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
The EPC INCH Nicaragua cigar begins with a ruddy shade-grown wrapper from Nicaragua's Jalapa region, being secured over all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers sourced from the Condega and Estelí regions of the country. As expected, the cigars arrive in hefty ring gauges of 60 and up, making for a smooth draw experience and the line's signature billowing smoke output. Lighting up with a medium-full intensity, the INCH Nicaragua cigar shows off flavors of earth, roasted nuts, toasted oak, black pepper, and an enjoyable creaminess through the finish.
