After debuting in 2022 with a craft-style suite of cigars, Miami-based El Mago Cigars expanded a year later, showcasing the El Cubano blend. While the initial cigars were inspired by Gonzalo and Maria Torre, the late grandparents of company owner, Nicolas Fusco, the El Mago El Cubano turned its focus to the family's home of Miami (and the city's deeply rooted Cuban culture).
Hand-made in Nicaragua, the El Mago El Cubano cigar bears the Cuban flag throughout its packaging. This extends to the tobacco recipe as well, at least non-directly... While the tobaccos weren't harvested from Cuba, the profile pays tribute to the country's famed quality and complexity. To accomplish this, the cigar uses a Connecticut destapado wrapper, a Honduran binder, and all-Nicaraguan fillers from the country's Estelí growing region. Medium-light in body, the El Mago El Cubano cigar begins with notes of cedar and sage-like spice, opening up to offer a classic overall profile of light-roast coffee, clean sugar, and cream through the finish.
