To fully appreciate the Fonseca by My Father, you first need to know a little bit of its history. The brand was established by Don Francisco Fonseca in the 1890s, operating a factory in Havana that produced a cigar labelled under his family name. Fonsecas were known for their use of high-grade tobacco, and pioneered the packaging style of wrapping cigars in tissue sleeves. Outside of Cuba, the cigars have been rolled by the famed Quesada family at their factory in the Dominican Republic since the 1970s, known as a classically geared smoke with a mild character and an affordable price point.
Flash forward to 2019, when it was announced that the García family had acquired the classic mark from the Quesadas, trading hands between two of the most highly respected families in the world of premium cigars. Fonseca by My Father materialized not long after, being retooled with a My Father-ized take on the classic Fonseca logo, as well as sporting an all-new Nicaraguan puro recipe. Sure, it's not the first time Fonseca has gone Nicaraguan, but never before has the band enclosed tobaccos grown on the storied fields of the Garcías!
Breathing new life into Fonseca, the Garcías have selected all-Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and filler, being topped with a shade-grown Corojo '99 wrapper. This recipe produces a medium-plus intensity, offering up a classic, Cubanesque character with a Nicaraguan zestiness. Flavors range from aromatic baking spices and cedar, to caramel, medium-roast coffee, buttered toast, and table cream through the finish.

an excellent interpretation from My Father of the newly acquired Fonseca line, that is very cubanesque creamy smoke, that is just a delight to smoke. Pair with coffee to compliment the cigar even more.

This stick was fine but not really a standout cigar like i had hoped. It is made in a traditional style that is more medium/mild in style. It draws well and has good smoke production. It is only one note, and that note does not appeal to me. If you are looking for a cigar for the old-world style, then you would enjoy this.
