The Gato Negro cigar is the first core-line offering from boutique upstart Gato Negro Cigars. Translating to Black Cat, the brand was inspired by the Cuban-born father of one of the company's founders, who owned a store named El Gato Negro in Cuba before its seizure by the Castro regime following the Cuban Revolution. This personal history is reflected in the brand’s slogan, "Cuban by birth, American by the grace of God," and the company's mission to "redefine the art of cigar craftsmanship."
Gato Negro cigars are meticulously crafted using a San Andrés maduro wrapper, a Dominican Olor binder, and fillers from Nicaragua’s Estelí region and Dominican Criollo '98. This blend showcases the expertise of the master blenders and rollers at Tabacalera Las Lavas in the Dominican Republic, a factory renowned for its high-quality cigars. The blend delivers a robust and flavorful smoking experience, with each tobacco leaf carefully selected for its unique characteristics.
