Celebrating 180 years since Hermann Dietrich Upmann first arrived in Cuba, H. Upmann proudly introduces the H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier cigar.
As the Upmann brothers (August and Hermann) were bankers from Bremen, Germany, the cigar's Barbier name is German as well, meaning Barber. This ties into the cigar's recipe as well, making use of an attractive barber pole wrapper, which uses both Ecuadorian Connecticut and Ecuadorian Sumatra leaves in an intertwined pattern.
These contrasting leaves surround a Java binder and a filler blend from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Broadleaf from an undisclosed region. The cigars are rolled at the famed Tabacalera de Garcia factory in La Romana, Dominican Republic, offering superb craftsmanship worthy of the Upmann name. This is not simply an attractive cigar, but one with an engaging smoking profile, offering a medium intensity and swirling flavors of cedar, citrus, light cabinet spice, and natural sweetness through the finish.
