In December of 2009, the García family launched a new brand known as Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial. As the Garcías had become known to commemorate members of their family throughout their impressive cigar portfolio (My Father, Le Bijou 1922, Don Pepín García Original, etc.), it was now time for Jaime García, son of Pepín García, to take the spotlight. Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial filled a gap in the My Father portfolio at the time, marking the company's first Connecticut Broadleaf-wrapped offering.
This broadleaf beauty has now reached a milestone 10th anniversary and, not being the type to let an anniversary pass by unnoticed, the Garcías have crafted an ultra-premium reimagining of the brand for 2019. The cigar is dubbed Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2019 (you got that right!), offering a full-bodied experience with a few tricks up the sleeve. For starters, you will find a gritty Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper; this leaf is secured over all-Nicaraguan binder and fillers that have been harvested from the García's own farms. The kicker is that this limited-edition flavor bomb includes the rare Pelo de Oro tobacco varietal in the cigar's filler. This leaf originated in Cuba, but is only used sparingly in today's cigar scene, as the seed is highly susceptible to disease. This makes for low crop yields and, therefore, higher price points. However, when the tobacco is successfully grown, it produces tremendous results, being praised for its high levels of strength, sweetness, and overall intensity.
Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2019 has been rolled in a singular 6½" x 52 toro format, which the Garcías felt best exemplified the performance of the selected blend. Only 2,500 boxes are in existence, so enthusiasts and collectors alike should not hesitate to acquire this rare, ultra-premium offering
