In 2018, Drew Estate introduced not one, but two new additions to the legendary Liga Privada collection, made in commemoration of the brand's 10th anniversary. Trouble was, each blend boasted select tobaccos from a specific farm in the Connecticut River Valley, significantly limiting the cigars' production until agricultural production could be increased. While unfortunate at the time, this allowed for years of eager anticipation, with hungry cigar enthusiasts champing at the bit to get their hands on the eventual widespread release, come 2022.
Introducing the Liga Privada H99 Connecticut Corojo cigar, one such blend from the aforementioned duo of forbidden fruits from Drew Estate. The blend begins with the unique ingredient that has caused such anguish (and delight) over the years—a hybridized Connecticut Corojo wrapper dubbed H99. This leaf is stalk-cut/cured and fermented for lengthy periods of time, making for an oily, supremely flavorful beast of a wrapper! Next is a a Mexican San Andrés Otapan Negro Último Corte binder, which is secured over rich fillers of Honduras, Nicaragua, and Pennsylvania Green River One Sucker.
As you might've guessed, the eventual debut was everything we'd hoped for and more, being a fitting addition to the Liga Privada No. 9 and T52 cigars we've so adored for the past decade-plus. The Liga Privada H99 Connecticut Corojo is thick and oily in texture, lingering long on the palate with notes of savory steak, black pepper, rich chocolate, bittersweet espresso, and raisin-like sweetness beneath the surface.
