This is it, the cigar that kicked off one of the most luxurious brands on the market today: Micallef Cigars. As story has it, the company's owners (Al Micallef and the Gómez-Sanchez family) became acquainted by chance, with two members of the Gómez-Sanchez family deciding to roll cigars for patrons of a local Texas-based cigar shop after their car had broken down in the area. Mr. Micallef was one such patron, and he loved the cigars they had rolled so much that he formed a partnership with the Gómez-Sanchez family not long after.
When debuting in 2016, the company made quite a splash, introducing the Micallef Reserva Limitada Privada cigar with an ultra-premium price point that got enthusiast's attention. Cigars at these prices are not something you come across every day, and you'd better believe die-hard hobbyists came prepared to knock the then-newcomer down a peg or two. Alas, the cigar's ultra-premium price tag had an ultra-premium smoking experience to match, and fanfare has only grown in the years following.
The Micallef Reserva Limitada Privada cigar is medium in body, making use of a diverse selection of tobaccos throughout the blend. This includes a San Andrés Habano wrapper (not a commonly seen leaf), secured over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers of Honduras, the DR, and Peru.
