Padron Black 97

One of the most elusive and sought-after releases from the legendary Padrón family, at least in the modern era, is the Padrón Black cigar. Unlike headlining releases such as the Padrón 1926 Serie and Padrón Family Reserve, the Padrón Black has never seen a full-fledged release, instead managing to creep up in limited quantities when you least expect it!

In fact, the line first debuted as our own Smoke Inn exclusive in 2016 (dubbed José O. Padrón 89 Birthday Blend), being crafted for family patriarch José Padrón himself. In the years since, the Black band has returned for select events and causes, with the Padrón Black PB97 release being the most wide-spread launch to date.

The Padrón Black PB97 cigar, like nearly all Padróns, was rolled in both natural and maduro wrapper varieties, with the experience being described as landing somewhere between the 1926 and Family Reserve lines in terms of intensity. The PB97 was rolled in a single 6¾" x 54 torpedo format, being limited to the amount of orders Padrón received from retailers during the 2023 PCA trade show. Now ready for cigar hobbyists' humidors, the PB97 offers a medium-full profile, with the PB97 Natural offering notes of earth, peppered toast, and medium-roast coffee; alternatively, the PB97 Maduro is darker and slightly sweeter through the finish, hitting notes of earth, mocha, and black licorice.
