Protocol Probable Cause (aka Protocol Red) is the sophomore release from Cubariqueño Cigar Company; a followup to the wildly popular Protocol Blue. Like the original, Probable Cause maintains the brand's focus/inspiration of law enforcement, as co-founders Juan Cancel and Bill Ives have served for more than four decades (combined).
In criminal law, probable cause is the standard required by authorities to obtain a warrant or arrest. In terms of tobacco, Probably Cause grants Cubariqueño access to the taste buds of smokers nationwide (it's a stretch, but we're running with it!).
Following the fan-favorite Protocol Blue, the Probable Cause continues the company's focus on Nicaraguan-heavy experiences. But where the Blue offered a more traditional profile, the Red has gone to the dark side, wrapping the all-Nicaraguan blend in an oily Mexican San Andrés maduro leaf. This flavor-forward blend jumps onto the palate, unleashing a medium body and rich flavors of sweet oak, Cuban coffee, seasoned steak, cabinet spices, and a dark sweetness reminiscent of red wine.
Somewhat savory, somewhat sweet, this blend has a little bit of everything for the flavor-seeking enthusiast.
*Please note that all SKUs have two product lines. The top line is the box/bundle count. The second line is less than a box/bundle count and will be shipped as loose cigars in a humidified bag.
Ryan Miller - Protocol Red Probable Cause Corona
Hands down this is my favorite Protocol cigar from their core line. The robust pepper and very full body experience if everything I look for in a cigar. If you like full full body and tons of pepper this is the cigar for you hands down.

very rich cigar, flavorful earthy tones with great construction. One of my favorite to smoke watching the snow fall with a nice glass of something dark

Nathan pawlikowski - Protocol Red Probable Cause Box Press Churchill
I gave this cigar a few chances. I had a few bad experiences with it. The cigar was a little underwhelming and the burn was non existent. At first the cigar tasted good with rich earthy notes but it was met quickly with an extinguished cherry. If the first few puffs were an indication of what it should taste like and the cigar burned well it would be really good!
