Along with his enthusiasm for tattoos and tattoo culture, Tatuaje Cigars owner, Pete Johnson, has also been known to incorporate his Rottweiler dogs throughout his cigars and events. This can be traced all the back to Tatuaje's origins, with his dog Hunter's name being codified into each of the six original sizes of the Tatuaje Brown Label cigar.

In 2016, Pete paid tribute to his Rottweiler named Kona, with the Tatuaje K222 cigar taking its name from the time of the time of the dog's passing (i.e. "K" + "2:22pm"). This fan-favorite release falls under Tatuaje's limited Reserva collection, featuring special releases that are custom blended to suit each cigar. Shortly after the cigar's release, Tatuaje introduced the Tatuaje Reserva Broadleaf Collection, offering a range of the most popular Brown Label and Reserva cigars in Broadleaf-wrapped maduro variations.

Tatuaje Reserva K222

The Tatuaje Reserva K222 cigar is rolled in a 5⅞" x 52 short toro size, making use of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over an all-Nicaraguan binder/filler recipe. Rolled out of My Father Cigars' boutique-style factory in Miami, the blend clocks in at medium-full in body, offering long-lasting flavors of earth, baker's cocoa, toasted oak, and molasses bread.

 Tatuaje Reserva K222 Broadleaf

In the darker maduro variant, the Tatuaje Reserva K222 Broadleaf cigar is rolled in the same 5⅞" x 52 short toro format, this time coming out of the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The blend includes a similar all-Nicaraguan core, swapping the Habano wrapper of the original for the heartier characteristics of Connecticut Broadleaf. This makes for a medium-full to full experience, showing gritty flavors of black pepper, French-press coffee, fresh-tilled soil, mineral, and sweet roasted nuts.
