Sobremesa Brûlée Blue by Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Review

By Eli “Sarge” Vidal

The Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sobremesa Brûlée Blue cigar by Steve Saka was a highly anticipated 2019 release from a company known for producing high-quality, artisanal cigars. In this review, we will explore the various aspects of the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue, including its appearance, construction, flavor profile, and overall smoking experience.

Appearance:

The Sobremesa Brûlée Blue is an attractive cigar that is immediately eye-catching. It features a light blue and gold band with a prominently displayed Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust logo.

The cigar itself has a smooth, light brown Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that is free of any significant veins or blemishes, a Mexican Matacapan negro de Temporal binder, and a Nicaraguan filler.

The overall construction is excellent, with a firm but not overly tight pack and a cleanly applied pigtail cap. The Vitola (size) is 6 1/4 x 46 grand corona, and is being sold in a box of 13 cigars.

Construction:

The construction of the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue is outstanding, as is typical of Steve Saka’s cigars. The draw is smooth and easy, with just the right amount of resistance to allow for a slow, even burn. The ash is tight and compact, and the cigar produces a thick, creamy smoke that lingers on the palate.

Flavor Profile:

The flavor profile of the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue is quite unique, particularly for a cigar with a Connecticut shade wrapper. The cigar starts with a light, creamy sweetness that is reminiscent of vanilla and caramel. As the cigar progresses, more complex flavors emerge, including notes of toasted bread, nuts, and a hint of spice.

The spice is not overpowering but rather provides a subtle, pleasant tingle on the tongue that complements the other flavors. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a pleasant, creamy aftertaste on the palate.

Some claimed that the cigar was sweet-tipped. However, that is 100% false. The sweetness the smoker gets off the top is attributed to the wrapper’s unique fermentation and curing process.

Overall Smoking Experience:

The overall smoking experience of the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue is exceptional. The cigar burns evenly and consistently throughout, producing a thick, creamy smoke that is both flavorful and aromatic.

The draw is smooth and effortless, and the construction is flawless, ensuring a perfect smoking experience from start to finish. The cigar is medium-bodied, making it accessible to a broad range of cigar enthusiasts, from beginners to seasoned veterans.

Final Thoughts

The Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Sobremesa Brûlée Blue cigar by Steve Saka is a must-try for any cigar enthusiast. Its unique flavor profile, flawless construction, and exceptional smoking experience make it a standout among Connecticut shade-wrapped cigars. Whether you are a fan of Steve Saka’s previous offerings or simply looking for a high-quality cigar to add to your collection, the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue is sure to impress.
