1 – Oliva Serie O Toro ($7.60 Retail)
Origin: Nicaragua • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Nicaragua • Filler: Nicaragua
Size: 6 x 50 • Body: Medium
Since the cigar boom of the ’90s, Oliva Cigars has expanded their reach into the humidors of discerning aficionados without restraint or moderation… A pioneer in the realm of punchy Nicaraguan leaf, Oliva showcases some of the highest-scoring cigars in the world. This includes the Oliva Serie 0, which is often looked at as a more affordable/approachable alternative to the famed Oliva Serie V. In comparison, the Serie O pulls back on intensity some, offering a medium-plus body through a Nicaraguan recipe from Estelf, Condega, and Jalapa.
1 –Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut Toro ($12.00 Retail)
Origin: Honduras • Wrapper: Connecticut
Binder: Nicaragua • Filler: : Dominican Republic I Nicaragua
Size: 6½ x 52 • Body: Mild-Medium
The Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut is a mild to medium-bodied cigar with a smooth, golden Connecticut wrapper that has been aged for seven years (said to be the oldest Connecticut on the market). The blend features Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers (also aged for seven to eight years), delivering notes of cream, cedar, and a hint of spice. This well-balanced smoke has a sweet finish and is perfect for beginners and experienced smokers alike
1 – Alec Bradley Double Broadleaf Toro ($11.50 Retail)
Origin: Honduras • Wrapper: Honduran Broadleaf
Binder: Honduran Broadleaf I Nicaragua • Filler: Nicaragua I Honduras
Size: 6 x 52 • Body: Full
Not content with simply adding a Broadleaf wrapper option to the Alec Bradley portfolio, the company upped the ante with the Alec Bradley Double Broadleaf, showcasing the gritty tobacco throughout both the wrapper AND binder! The cigar falls under the company’s Experimental Series, where new and bold smoking experiences often make their debut. With this critically acclaimed blend, the cigars showcase a unique Broadleaf that is grown in Honduras (rather the usual Connecticut, USA), being joined by a double binder and fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras. The experience is understandably punchy in profile, hitting notes of earth, toasted oak, and espresso.
1 – Luciano Mas lgneus Excelente ($13.45 Retail)
Origin: Nicaragua • Wrapper: : Ecuadorian Corojo
Binder: Brazil • Filler: Nicaragua
Size: 6 x 60• Body: Medium-Full
Mas Igneus is the latest from Luciano Meirelles, an aficionado in the realm of premium cigars and craft wine. In fact, the name “Mas Igneus” is shared by a winery in the Priorat region of Spain, of which Luciano is a partner. With this cigar, it has been custom built to pair perfectly with the wine (or any dense wine with higher tannin levels, for that matter), going so far as to match the pH balance of the tobaccos with such wines. The cigar is medium-full in body, showing notes of cabinet spice, rye bread, and stone fruit sweetness through the finish.
1 – Espinosa Knuckle Sandwich Habano Toro H ($13.50 Retail)
Origin: Nicaragua • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Nicaragua • Filler: Nicaragua
Size: 6 x 54 • Body: Medium-Full
Restaurateur and food celebrity Guy Fieri has entered the premium cigar scene (you’d better believe it!), and has since taken the industry by storm. Guy partnered with Erik Espinosa to bring his vision to life, showcasing two of the most acclaimed cigar releases for 2022: Espinosa Knuckle Sandwich Habano and Maduro. With the Habano, the cigars are wrapped in an elegant selection of Ecuadorian Habano, being secured over all-Nicaraguan tobaccos from the prized fields of A.J. Fernandez. This combination smokes as good as you’d expect, offering a medium-plus body and long-lasting flavors of cabinet spice, buttermilk, Redhots candy, and sweet coffee cake.
